When in Goa, savouring Goan cuisine is a must! It makes good use of native fish species, a staple ingredient on many restaurant menus here. But contemporary restaurants in Goa are also influenced by international cuisines such as Greek, Malaysian and European. We pick out the best of restaurants in South Goa to try and showcase the best of innovative food in this vacation paradise.
Our quest for the best brought us to RadissonBlu Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach that is also home to four spectacular eateries. Well, without further ado, let’s give you a glimpse at the food and drink highlights from their novel offerings!
When in Search of Palate Pleasing Greek Food, Head to GRECO!
Greco reiterates that you don’t need to be in Santorini to taste exquisite Greek fare. Journey to this hep eatery with us as we take you through a fun evening of food and music! Our first order was the Tzatziki. A yoghurt, cucumber, garlic and olive dip served with pita bread; this offers you a flavour unlike any other. Along with dinner, the chef was kind enough to suggest a special Greek wine as an accompaniment. Ask for their recommendations as it shall swiftly lift your mood!
We must reiterate that the show stopper of the evening- Tragani Feta was a revelation! Feta cheese in pastry crust with honey and sesame never tasted better. But if luscious prawn cooked with oodles of rich flambé sauce is your idea of perfection, then Garides Sxras prawns are for you. It’s quite the combo for a seafood lover. Another spectacular dish was the Bifteki. It is a minced beef kebab wonder.
Those who prefer chicken must try the Bouti Kotopoul Sxras. A sizzle of familiar spices and the heady aroma of this dish heralded a homecoming of sorts for us. Savour succulent chicken punctuated with sautéed greens, a hint of basil and lime. Sate your sweet tooth with the Galaktoboureko or classic Greek Baklava!
Begin your Mornings with Breakfast at the UPPER DECK
Breakfast at the Upper Deck was a grand affair with eggs Benedict, pancakes and a massive bread display showcasing fresh bakes! It is modern and open with natural light that pours in from floor-to-ceiling windows.
The dining room at Upper Deck is a bright and inviting place to enjoy your cheese omelettes at breakfast or even have lunch or dinner. We especially enjoyed their smoothies and the counter that lets you make your own yogurt with a melange of ingredients, berries, compote and nuts!
We indulged in an extensive buffet full of delicious Western and Indian cuisine. Their array of dosas, idlis and medu wadas with multiple variations were more crisp and delectable than any South Indian restaurant.
Order dishes from the à la carte menu and drinks from the attached bar! In the evenings, enjoy dining on the terrace for an alfresco experience.
Indulge in Exciting Liqueur at SAGRES!
Sagres is best known for drinks and bar bites. The promise of scrumptious fare spun around regional flavours compelled us to visit the eatery for our final dinner. Sagres captures the true spirit of Portuguese culture with its signature cocktails and finely crafted food.
Just as you enter, the ambiance captivates you. Be it colourful decor or lively bar, this haunt personifies quirky. Much as the eccentric interiors charmed us, a bad sunburn from the beach had us beat. Luckily, our first order rolled up bringing refreshing respite. The talented mixologists had devised mocktails and signature cocktails for us.
On the food front, we enjoyed their Chicken Tikka pizza and the Cheesy Nachos. The Chicken Tikka pizza is one delectable delight. You get a welcome hit of spiced chicken as well as crisp baked pizza base on this one making it a must try. When it comes to the Nachos, picture an avalanche of molten cheese laden atop crisp nachos. On the other hand, their Sliders are precisely what you should demand if you crave a chicken and cheesy wonder.
This tavern and restaurant features evenings of live music and an outdoor seating area to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere!
Sate your Passion for Goan Cuisine at LUCIO
For mouthwatering traditional Goan-Portuguese cuisine and fresh seafood, reserve a table at Lucio. We tried their vegetarian and non-veg Goan Thalis. The airy dining area offers an open show kitchen so that you can enjoy a little entertainment while waiting for your food’s arrival!
Hosting an important business meeting or special event? The restaurant also has a semi-private dining room that can be reserved for your gathering.
We hope you travel to Goa soon and have a marvellous culinary escapade like we did!
Travel pretty much became a way of life for my generation and you weren’t anybody unless you were taking a big trip at least once a year as well as frequently escaping somewhere wonderful for a quick weekend. Millennials may not be buying houses, but most of them are well-established jet-setters.
That is why we opted for a beach vacation one weekend this winter. We could have actually gone to a fun wedding in Miami that weekend but it would have been a quick, turn around trip and just the thought of it was too much. So, we decided to stay at RadissonBlu Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach and it was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Soon as we entered RadissonBlu Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach, we noticed that it features brightly colored architecture and lush gardens that create an atmosphere that invites relaxation. After our meeting with the very warm and congenial General Manager- Victor C. Soares, our first meal was in their fantastic restaurant Upper Deck. We had been feeling particularly stressed and this was the weekend of relaxation we needed.
When we visited the RadissonBlu Resort Goa Cavelossim Beach, we were amazing by the decor as it was all set to host a spectacular wedding!
Just a 10-minute walk from the Arabian Sea, our hotel made beach getaways easy. We stepped away from the property for a dip in the beach soon as it was 4pm! Later, it was time for dinner at their Greek restaurant Greco.
With nearly 4,000 square meters of meeting space and a location 45 minutes from Goa International Airport (GOI), the hotel is an ideal backdrop for weddings and corporate gatherings. After an afternoon in the water, we choose to refuel with one of the four restaurants and a bar before heading to one of the 132 rooms and suites for the night.
Of course, you can disconnect when you travel but you have to make a real effort and you often need your phone and a Wifi connection to navigate and communicate. But on a Goa vacay at Radisson, you may truly be able to unplug, even if it is just for a bit. In fact, there’s something for every traveller as the property offered plenty of on-site water fun with two outdoor swimming pools, including a pool just for children!
If you prefer more personalized attention while you unwind, take advantage of the treatments at Sohum Spa. While we did not try them on our sojourn, they seem promising much like the rest of the wonderful resort.
Our final dinner was at a lounge that offers you a familiar environment where you know you can let your guard down as you sip on delicious cocktails. We’re talking about their in-house Sagres.
As we made our way home we couldn’t help but think that there are a whole lot more possibilities to enrich the stay, especially by visiting the property for a destination wedding! Consider a beach wedding at RadissonBlu Resort Goa if you are getting too stressed out about planning a wedding.
Ask them about their catering and audiovisual services for a complete and successful event! You will especially enjoy Lucio, the restaurant that serves scrumptious Goan cuisine!
The highlight of South Indian fare, this eatery flaunts a casual ambience and a unique menu that promises to offer you an interesting way to experience South Indian food. The food here is incredibly instagrammable. Once you soak in the menu highlights, you must order up and try some of their extensive collection of specialty dosas.
Now let’s delve into UpSouth’s rich history! With a vision to create highly scalable hospitality venture, Billionsmiles Hospitality Pvt Ltd was founded in year 2007 by Mr Vijay Abhimanyu Rajendran with casual dining restaurant “Southindies”. Southindies serves exotic south Indian vegetarian dishes in upscale environment and is highly respectable brand with many awards, accolades and appreciation.
Through the years, company has expanded its portfolio with “Bonsouth”, “Upsouth” and “Billionsmiles Catering”in cities like Bangalore and Pune. Bonsouth is a contemporary unlimited non vegetarian buffet serving format with gala feast table set up in upscale décor and service environment. Upsouth is a quick service (QSR) casual vegetarian South Indian restaurant with an upbeat and contemporary touch.
Meet the founder
At 29, Vijay Abhimanyu Rajendran brings to the table the energy of a youngster, streamlined by a level of maturity that’s well beyond his age. He started with one stand-alone restaurant in Bengaluru when he was just 20 years old and today, nine years hence, owns twelve restaurants across two states in India and has massive expansion plans for the upcoming years.
Meet the tireless entrepreneur who is driven by the ambition to make a difference in everything he does!
That being said, Upsouth does dish up a wide range of contemporary items and non-alcoholic drinks as well; some of which we sampled on our tasting at the Viman Nagar outlet. Well, without further ado- here’s what you can look forward to when you visit UpSouth!
Although their menu charmed us, their Ragi Dosa and Mysore Masala Dosa were first on our list.
Those who are a little more adventurous can opt for their Malabari Parota Sandwich. Practically a sandwich, what you get is a warm yummy mini uttapam topped with a generous portion of greens and patty. Drizzled lightly with sauces, it is a dish that won our hearts.
The scrumptious Uthly was plated beautifully with edible garnishing! Although, if you favour some more conventional vegetarian fare, try their Sabudana cheese wada that happens to be a crowd pleaser. The Cheese Margarita is ideal for those who seek extra cheesiness in their meal.
Should you seek to cut back on dosa, then idlis from their menu are ideal for you. This eatery leaves you spoilt for choice when you’re faced with their ample varieties of deliciously crisp Upsouth mini Idlys. We especially loved the Andhra poodi idly!
We were quite intrigued by the select array of beverages and coffee is a must try at the eatery. It is said to complement their specially curated meal menu. Well, true to their word, one of the highlights of the evening was the Mango Shake. Their personal take on the yummy beverage makes it a must order!
10 Sec Takeaway
If swift service, compact seating areas and an in-house deliciousness is your jam, then UpSouth is the perfect place for you.
Ideal for a brunch or evening snacking, the outlet is open to diners with several branches in town. They also present exciting idlis on their menu.
Should you be in the mood for some stellar South Indian fare, then visit for some intriguing selections!

Merely a short while on the local food scene and this fabulous eatery already has loyal patrons coming in. This speaks volumes of their local popularity. Their outlet on Salunke Vihar Road is owned and managed by the very talented Vrinda Hingorani and Chef Ronak Mehta.
This Janurary, we stopover at this cozy little joint and bring you the inside details on all that we relished there!
1. Balsamic assorted mushroom with cream cheese on hash brown
If you love your shrooms, then this one is for you. Whole button mushrooms grilled in the tandoor with a mélange of delicate spices, this dish is dressed with oodles of soft cream cheese. What’s not to love? Silky, creamy and laden with just the tang of balsamic, this appetizing entres is perfection on a plate!
2. Enchilada- Serious Salivation Alert!
Let’s put it this way- if you’re sworn to meat and looking to convert start here. A healthy alternative for vegetarians it is garnished with a dollop of sour cream.
3. Saute Veg Burrito with Emmenthel Cheese
This one’s served with loads of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. It hoodwinks you into believing you’re eating chicken and undeniably qualifies as the best burrito in the city.
4. Spicy corn Tortilla soup
Those of us who have lived or travelled to Mexico constantly crave flavours and spices unique to the region. Alas, one cannot fly there every time you crave Mexican food waala swaad. Becky’s Binging Bay is the perfect place for you!
5. Signature Nachos
As hardcore meat lovers we eyed this dish with ample apprehension. But imagine our surprise when this stood out as the star of the evening!
6. Stir-Fry Wok With Burnt Chilli Sauce
The best part about a food station like Becky’s is that it focuses on quality rendering anything you order off the menu scrumptious. This is why you must savour this dish!
Try as they may, innumerable city restaurants tried and failed to replicate the flavours of a perfect pannacotta when pandering to city epicureans (or so we thought). With delightful fare and delicious desserts, Becky’s Binging Bay manages to wow us!
Watch out for their Peach apricot frozen Margarita. It is the ideal drink for your luncheon, as is the Green apple mojito. When it comes to the starters, their fare makes for swift snacking.
The inimitable spices and ingredient are the highlight of Becky’s, which is why you must visit them for a Vegetarian and Mexican meal experience!

It’s a travesty that jet-setting comes at a heavy price tag. Luckily, the nicest city eateries rise to the challenge, delighting those of us who travel for the extraordinary fare. Set on Senapati Bapat Rd, Siddharth Mehta’s Zaga Art Cafe & Bar does precisely this.
Should you be in the vicinity of an Zaga Art Cafe & Bar, trust us; you can’t get there fast enough. For now, we bring you the culinary highlights of our dinner at the eatery!
Butter Garlic Prawns Creamy
Tucking into Butter Garlic Prawns you see the prawns are made beautifully. While the sauce is creamy with just the right hint of lemon, you can’t wait to spear the prawns with your knife and munch on the deliciousness.
Vietnamese Rice Roll
One of the biggest hits of the day was Chef Rammagar’s rendition of a time-honoured rice roll that originated in Vietnam. It was picture perfect and complete with veggies, black olives, salad greens and drizzled with balsamic. You shall enjoy the welcome crunch of the roll, but truly relish the rice that is central to this dish.
If you’re a fan of chicken like us, then missing their lasagne would be holy sacrilege. Served with love and cheese, this is a true delight for meat-lovers.
Barbeque cottage cheese
This is ideal for when you crave an tasty starter served up with cheese, paneer and goes perfectly with a drink.
Pan Fried citrus Basa With Jamiacan Rum Salsa
This one's quite the doozy for it holds an intriguing surprise. The melt-in-the-mouth fish is only the beginning, for the show-stopper here is the side. What you ingenuously assume to be Mexican salsa is in reality Jamiacan Rum Salsa! With a squeeze of lime, it pairs deliciously with the fish.
Burmese Khow suey with noodles
The quintessential Burmese dish is a finicky order, tricky to master yet deliciously palatable. But Zaga gets it right. Aptly dubbed Khow suey, these make a fascinating order.
They offer some refreshing drinks. We especially liked the one called Watermelon Sunset. While the Bacon Prune Rolls are a brunch favourite. The Black Risotto is spectacular- a creation cooked to perfection with cheese.
Frequented by a stream of loyal patrons, the little eatery is also an art cafe and co-working space. It came into being only to flourish for diners now sample delicious and exceptional savoury fare in a quirky environment!
How many times do you and your partner unanimously agree on one restaurant for your perfect romantic date? Well, almost never!! But there lies an exquisite place in the heart of the city, Alto Vino at JW Marriott, Pune which will entice you with its dreamy romantic ambience and delicious food.
What started as a mere need to prove himself to his mother for chef Marouane Rahali, today has become his lifelong passion for cooking. Curating a new menu which highlights the rustic Italian flavours transports you into the streets of venice. To start with, the marinated sauteed Prawns with Garlic and red Chilli Antipasti or the Artichoke Tomato tartare with Olives and Pine nuts served with black Truffles are an absolute delight. The warmth of autumn you get after having a Clear autumn vegetable soup with orzo pasta brings a wide smile on your face. One just cannot miss the Chestnut, Pumpkin and coffee Ravioli and the Beetroot Gnocchi served with sweet blue cheese sauce and toasted walnuts. An Italian meal is totally incomplete without a pasta. And so, Fresh handmade Pasta tossed in slow cooked Duck Ragu with Red Capsicum Coulis is the one you can relish.
As we move on to desserts the Chef’s special ‘affogato al caffe’ which is a hot chocolate, chocolate modena crumble biscuit and vanilla ice cream and the Tiramisu decomposto are the two dishes that stands out. The strong coffee and chocolate flavours gives you a beautiful end to your candle light dinner.
